Application and admission to the Digital and Experimental Arts degree program is a highly competitive process that usually takes place during winter quarter of the sophomore year for admission in spring. Freshmen entering the University with an interest in becoming a DXARTS major, can plan to complete their degree in five years, Transfer students should be prepared to spend three to four years.

To qualify for application as a major to the Program, the applicant must:

  1. Be an enrolled student at the University of Washington
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  3. Have successfully completed or be enrolled in the following courses before applying:
  • MATH 120 (or equivalent proficiency)
  • CSE 142
  • PHYS 114 (or PHYS 121)
  • ART History 203
  • MUSIC 120
  • DXARTS 200 & 201
